About
The original build of Waygate was created in 12 weeks as a solo student project, with the main goal of learning to create a 2D character controller from the ground up, as well as learning to use various tools in Unreal Engine.
Being my first large project, there's definitely some issues, but I've done my best to fix things up to have something to put out there. It'll be kept here as a demo, but is something I'd love to come back to as a full project one day in a more suitable engine.
I hope you enjoy playing.

Created an account to say how great your game is! Just finished the prototype and it was amazing. Celeste with a bit more floaty jump, but tighter than Super Meat Boy. I really like it, and though a bit simpler than those two games, I would put it on the same level fun and control-wise as those two.
If I had to criticise something, I'd say I found the momentum you gain from the moving blocks unintuitive. I only figured out after I finished almost all the puzzles using sheer trial-and-error in that section that you have to let go very late to gain the maximum speed boost.
Thank you! Celeste was definitely a huge inspiration design-wise so I'm glad to have captured some of that.
And that's an entirely fair criticism, in hindsight it probably would've been smoother if I'd introduced the moving blocks earlier on in a simpler way to let the player build up that intuition before throwing them into more complex situations.
Really addictive. Intuitive gameplay. Nice idea! Keep up the good work
